TECHNICAL ADVICE

  • Costa Rica’s electrical norm is 120 V 60 Hz A / B
  • Plug system is type B
  • In each of the conference rooms there is a projector and a PC computer. The computer is loaded with powerpoint software.
  • You can use your own computer if you prefer (e.g. Mac users), but it is better (more efficient) if all presenters in the same session use the same computer.
  • If you are a MAC user, we recommend that you bring your own HDMI adaptor.
  • If you do not have an HDMI adaptor, but instead an SVGA connector, please let us know by writing to iaccp2019@gmail.com

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR ORAL PRESENTATION OR SYMPOSIUM

  • Prior to every event the designated Chair should coordinate with the volunteer students at least 20 minutes before.
  • Chairs should arrive five minutes before the session and strictly control time, so that all presenters share equitably the time available. Volunteers will support chairs with the use of semaphore (stoplight) signals.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR POSTER PRESENTATION

  • Posters should be prepared in vertical (portrait) format known as A1, (594mm wide x 841mm high) (23.39 inches wide x 33.11 inches high).
  • There is an emerging trend to make posters more user-friendly. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RwJbhkCA58 If you adopt this strategy, please put the title and authors at the top and then the core finding in plain English (or Spanish) in large letters. Then use the two columns for (1) the standard descriptive categories of introduction, method, results, and discussion [silent presenter bar] and the other for tables, graphs, and data [ammo bar].
  • Please mount your poster in the morning (by 9:00 am) of the day of your presentation and be present during the assigned 90-minute period. You might also want to stand near your poster during coffee breaks. Please take down your poster at the end of the sessions (5:00 to 5:30 pm).

CHILDCARE

Because there was little demand for childcare, the service won’t be offered during the conference.

We look forward to meet you in Costa Rica!

¡PURA VIDA!
